Moving Through The Healing Process

A Christian Approach Inner Healing
16 Step Course Outline

STAGE 1: GOD'S NOT FINISHED WITH US YET
Step 1) Healing is an integral part of the Biblical Plan of Redemption.

Step 2) The Healing Ministry is a process of restoring men and women to the Purpose for which God created them, to love God and others as themselves.

Step 3) After being born anew we are new creations but His work in us is not yet completed.

Step 4) We were created in the Image of God. Our new Image is Jesus Christ.

Step 5) We were not made for sin. We have developed ways of coping in order to deal with the effects of sin but these mechanisms limit our ability to function and have relationships in healthy ways.

Step 6) We need to know the difference between the offense and the effects of sin so we can understand how we have been wounded.

Step 7) We need to have an understanding of the different causes for the hurt we feel. Not all hurt comes as a direct result of being wounded.

Step 8) We need to identify the hurt in our lives by identifying the offenses, recognizing how we have been wounded and by naming the losses. Sometimes the greatest source of loss comes from those things we did not receive and are missing.

STAGE 2: GOD'S STILL WORKING IN US BY HIS GRACE
Step 9) Jesus Christ is our Source of Healing.

Step 10) Through His wounds we have been healed. By developing His attitude toward unjust suffering we can continue to move through the healing process.

Step 11) Going on in our healing means going through a Grieving Process. This process allows us to experience the emotional impact of our losses and the injustice of those things done to us which we can not change.

Step 12) We must go through a Dying Process in which we die to self, our worldly desires and expectations in order to surrender our lives completely to Jesus Christ.

Step 13) We need to go through a Process of Forgiveness where we focus not only on what others have done to us but take responsibility for our attitudes and actions toward others.

Step 14) It is important to hold those who have wounded us responsible. We do this by moving toward them for the purpose of experiencing forgiveness, reconciliation and exploring the possibility of new relationships.

STAGE 3: BY GOD'S GRACE MY LIFE HAS BEEN RENEWED AND MY RELATIONSHIPS RESTORED
Step 15) The healing process is an encounter with God's grace resulting in a filling of the Holy Spirit. We now love God and others differently because we are being transformed spiritually.

Step 16) Living a renewed life as the result of experiencing healing means working out of one's weaknesses, rather than one's strengths, in total dependence on Jesus Christ.
